When we met Tessa, from Handle the Heat, we knew she was one of a kind. She is so sweet, it's not wonder why she is such a talented baker! If you are into baking, especially baking with science, than you should definitely be following Tessa on her blog and instagram. Tessa's blog blew up after she did an experiment with chocolate chip cookies; "The Ultimate Guide to Chocolate Chip Cookies". She did the experimenting with using more or less of certain ingredients, and did a lot of comparing so you can see (and, if you try the recipe at home, TASTE) the different! I'm sure if you're on pinterest and typed in 'chocolate chip cookie recipe', her comparison article showed up. Tessa focuses on the science behind the ingredients, and dissects them for you so you know why certain things are so important. We were asked to play a small role in a shoot she had dreamed of; a mother's day brunch with her family. We have worked with Tessa before on an Easter dinner (which, we will be posting about soon). Tessa's pictures and overall aesthetic is light, charming and extremely genuine. Tessa brings the sweet, but it's Chef Brendan McCaskey who brings the savory, and boy does he BRING IT! Brendan is a dear friend of ours because we share a love for Disney, SNL, Marvel, Game of Thrones, and pretty much ALL pop culture. But not only is he one of the best people to hang around with, he is also one of the most talented guys we know. With years of culinary education under his belt, numerous published recipes and food styling projects, Brendan is the REAL deal. We actually recently through our friend a surprise dinner party and hired Brendan to come in and create a menu. It was an experience we all never thought we would experience (you know, having a professional chef come in and cook you dinner while explaining each course...). If you ever get the chance to hire Brendan, you must do yourself a favor and DO IT. They best part about working with Tessa and Brendan on these fun projects, is that they put together a complete recipe guide for everything that is being shot. You can get the Mother's Day Brunch guide HERE. We hope you enjoy these photographs, captured by Constance Higley, and I hope they inspire you to celebrate the mom's (biological or not) in your lives not only on Mother's day, but every day!
